Cavity wall insulation blocks sub floor ventilation

Whilst lots of the damp and timber surveys I carry out are on traditional solid wall buildings, I also carry out lots of damp and timber surveys on buildings of cavity construction. Cavity wall insulation can save you money on your heating bills, but if it isn’t installed correctly it isn’t unusual for issues like this to occur. Poor sub floor ventilation because cavity wall insulation has blocked sub floor vents can cause serious woodworm and timber decay issues. This below video shows an example of this.
